A bodily schooling instructor and baseball mentor from El Camino Higher education been given the Wellbeing Educator of the Yr Award from the California Neighborhood College Physical Education, Kinesiology, Dance Association, or CCCPKED.
Nate Fernley, now in his 16th period as the Warriors baseball coach, expressed gratitude for his nomination and assortment for the award.
“It was an honor, and I am grateful that somebody believed that I added worth to college students in the higher education,” Fernley stated. “Obviously, the award is wonderful, but just getting this occupation appears like the reward.”
CCCPKED is an instructional organization that falls beneath the California Community Faculty Athletics Association, the governing human body of athletics at the group faculty level in California.
The assortment process for the difference boiled down to a nomination period of time by an govt board member of the association and then a assortment committee which in the end attained Fernley the prestigious award.
The nomination for Fernley arrived from Colin Preston, who was El Camino’s Director of Athletics and Kinesiology from 2016 to 2021 but was not a component of the choice committee.
Preston now serves as the Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics and Overall health Science at Cypress University and is an executive board member of CCCPKED.
“Nate is a phenomenal overall health instructor, and a phenomenal baseball coach,” Preston stated. “Always goes previously mentioned and further than in the classroom. An award ceremony was held in Sacramento at the California Group University Athletics Affiliation Spring Convention on March 30, honoring Fernley’s accomplishment.

El Camino athletic director Jeffrey Miera, who succeeded Preston, was coached by Fernley through his time playing baseball for the Warriors and served as an assistant below his coaching employees.
